“Chung Myung Dojaaaaaaaang!”
A piercing scream erupted from behind. The voice rang clearly in Chung Myung's ears.
But he didn’t particularly care.
'What a drama.'
Glancing back briefly, he saw the ship pulling away from the shore and quickly gaining distance. While the martial artists were rowing with all their might and would soon secure a safe distance, they still needed a bit more time.
Chung Myung fixed his gaze on the Myriad Man Manor martial artists surging forward like a tidal wave. Even Chung Myung's hair stood on end at the sight of roughly a thousand of them charging forward with gleaming eyes and ragged breaths.
It was clear that if these Myriad Man Manor bastards attacked the ships, the casualties would be catastrophic.
'So I need to buy time, is that it?'
It was a ludicrous nonsense. These weren’t just any martial artists—they were the elite of Myriad Man Manor. Facing nearly a thousand of their best alone was impossible even for Chung Myung.
"Kuaaaah!"
Chung Myung smiled as he watched the Myriad Man Manor martial artists charge forward with beast-like screams as if half-maddened.
“It’s been a while…”
His lips curled upward, savagely revealing his pure white teeth.
"I like how simple this is!"
No need for thought.
What these damn brats were witnessing, what they were experiencing, whether they truly understood, how the chaos of Kangho was twisting even at this moment, and so on.
These complicated thoughts that had been boiling in Chung Myung's head evaporated and were replaced entirely by pure sensation.
The blood-scent scent seemed to numb his nose, the deafening shouts someone was bellowing, the murderous intent so intense it made his skin tingle. And before his eyes, enemies, enemies, nothing but enemies.
It was a scene all too familiar to Chung Myung.
Tatat!
The sensation of his feet digging into the sand and pushing off sent a thrill coursing through his entire body and exploded at the crown of his head.
Pat! Paat! Paaat!
With each step he took, his strides grew longer and his speed became faster. Bending low with his reverse-gripped sword pulled back, Chung Myung shot forward like a streak of black lightning and dived straight into the tsunami of Myriad Man Manor martial artists.
The Myriad Man Manor martial artists widened their eyes.
'Mount Hua Chivalrous Sword!'
He was an absolute powerhouse that no one would dare to confront alone. But right now, the man was alone. Therefore, there wasn't the slightest reason to fear.
"Dieeeeeeeeee!"
With a deafening war cry to shake off the instinct to shrink back, the enemies swung their swords with every ounce of strength they could muster. The blades, brimming with violent malice and raw intent to tear apart their opponent, rained down relentlessly toward the small figure of Mount Hua Chivalrous Sword.
Kwaaaaang!
Ignoring any harmony between inner force and sword techniques, the blade strikes—driven purely by the singular desire to somehow tear their opponent apart—crashed into the white sand, causing a massive explosion.
A massive cloud of pulverized dust rose like a pure white cloud.
'Where!'
As visibility momentarily blurred, one of the Myriad Man Manor martial artists scowled. Their opponent was Mount Hua Chivalrous Sword.
Losing track of him for even a split second could lead to irreversible consequences.
Squinting against the stinging grains of sand that worked their way into his eyes, the man refused to close them.
Instead, he widened his eyes further and drew upon every ounce of his sensory perception.
'Where…!'
In that instant, his efforts bore fruit as his senses detected Chung Myung's movement and position. But instead of relief or triumph, the man's face contorted into sheer terror.
'Behind? S- Since when...'
Duguen!
A sharp sting felt at his neck. Terror flooded in. As he instinctively reached to grab his neck, a gruesome sight unfolded before his eyes.
A thin red line as if drawn with a thin pencil appeared on the necks of his comrades in front, and soon dark red blood spurted out like a fountain.
The prickling pain on his neck flared into a searing heat that spread rapidly, burning like a fire consuming his body from within.
That heat spread from his neck to his shoulders. Only then did the Myriad Man Manor martial artist realize the truth behind the heat.
It was absurd. He tried to laugh it off.
‘Blood… it’s hotter than I tho…’
But he collapsed before completing his laugh.
Chwaaaak!
Blood burst from the throats of more than a dozen martial artists in a crimson fountain.
Those behind who escaped the carnage widened their eyes in shock. The outcome was clear because they could see it with their own eyes, but they couldn’t register the process.
To them, Chung Myung had simply disappeared while running, only to reappear right before their fallen comrades who had rushed ahead but suddenly collapsed spurting blood.
It was a sight that shattered the common sense of martial arts.
People naturally feel reverence toward those who execute familiar techniques with great mastery. But when the actions transcend comprehension, the response was pure terror.
And now, an even greater terror swept over them as Mount Hua Chivalrous Sword appeared right before their noses.
"U- Uwaaah!"
If the dao of those at the front had been filled with hostility, these men's dao were filled with bewilderment and fear.
Chung Myung never misses such wavering and gaps.
Paaaaat!
His sword flashed and severed the wrist of a martial artist gripping a sword. The sword that had been raised upwards spun like a top without being able to convert its power into a downward strike.
Sogok!
Chung Myung’s sword sliced through the necks of those who hadn't yet realized their wrists had been severed.
Paaaat!
Blood spurts again. All those behind could see was blood, blood, nothing but blood.
"Y- You bastard... Keuk!"
The mouth that was about to shout instead met Chung Myung’s blade. It was so fast that it seemed as if Chung Myung’s sword had torn through space to arrive there.
"Keuruk...."
Before the martial artist’s soul even had time to leave his body, Chung Myung dragged his blade horizontally through the man’s throat, carving a deadly arc toward his next target.
Seuaaaat!
Chung Myung's sword split the air with a sound like an awl rapidly scraping across well-frozen ice. Flesh of Myriad Man Manor martial artist followed in its wake, torn open with frightening precision.
Sogok! Sogok! Sogok! Sogok!
“Euaaaaah!”
“Aaaaghhh!”
The sound of a sharp blade slicing through flesh and severing blood vessels blended with agonizing screams. Blood sprayed in all directions.
Paaaat!
Everywhere Chung Myung passed, it was as if crimson blossoms bloomed in the air like mist. The blood that had erupted skyward rained down on the white sands with a soft thud.
The blue sea, the gleaming white sands, the waves of black-clad figures crashing upon them, and the red blood spreading dot by dot between them.
From the heavens, it might seem as though an immortal had painted a scene on the canvas of the world with a single bold stroke.
But for those within that painting, it was anything but beautiful.
"Hee, heek..."
The people who had advanced forward with the momentum of an unstoppable tide faltered.
Only the figure of Chung Myung, dyed completely red, seemed to appear clearly before their eyes.
The sight was the most direct and intense of the senses.
Those who had been excited by the heat of their comrades' spraying blood, those who grew bold at their overwhelming numbers, even those who had been intoxicated with vain delusions that they might be the one to behead the great Mount Hua Chivalrous Sword... before this carnage, they could only feel their blood run cold.
Geugeugeuk.
The sword ghost who had turned countless souls into vengeful spirits approached with his entire body soaked in blood. The blade he held dragged along the blood-drenched sands, creating an unsettling grating sound.
“Uh…”
At some point, those who had been running at the front stopped moving.
Tok.
Drops of blood fell from the soaked tips of Chung Myung’s hair.
He looked as believable as a demon risen from hell. From beneath his disheveled hair, his icy gaze pierced through like the Northern Sea’s frigid winds, eliciting a scream from an emotion that should never have arisen within the hearts of the Myriad Man Manor martial artists.
"Ah..."
Tuk.
The sound of someone’s back colliding with another’s shoulder was barely audible amidst the chaos.
A trivial sound, but on the battlefield, it carries boundless meaning.
"St- Stop..."
The moment someone tried to speak, Chung Myung's sword drew dozens of blade shadows at once, enveloping those who had frozen in place.
Paaaaat!
As though a dam had burst, the martial artists caught within the sweep of the sword were flung about like scattered debris.
“H- Hiiiik!”
The one person who managed to evade the sword’s trajectory threw himself backward with a deathly pale face. No, he tried to.
Kwagak!
Chung Myung’s sword was several times faster. Before the man could even straighten his bent knees, Chung Myung’s sword was already at his throat. No matter how hard he swung his dao, it was evident the sword piercing his throat would be faster.
But in that moment, the man proved why he was a martial artist of Myriad Man Manor. Just as the sword pierced his throat, he gripped the blade with both hands and stopped it dead in its tracks.
"Keu, keuruk..."
A split-second reaction in the face of death had saved the man’s life. He had successfully stopped the blade just short of fully piercing through his throat.
"Keuuu..."
With bloodshot eyes bulging, he desperately pushed back against the Dark Fragrant Plum Blossom Sword.
But then, Chung Myung’s lips curled into a faint smirk.
Ppudeudeuk!
With a grating sound of skin and metal grinding together, Chung Myung’s sword inched forward.
Kagak!
The hands filled with immense internal strength split like paper as the sword embedded itself in bone.
Kagagak! Kagagak!
The sword was carved through bone, digging deeper into his neck.
"Keuh... Keugh...."
Blood gushed out of the man’s mouth like a waterfall. Even amidst that, his hands desperately clutched the sword.
It was a sight that instilled unbelievable terror in those watching. And yet, Chung Myung’s eyes were utterly cold, devoid of the slightest hint of excitement.
“Kkeureuk...”
The man's body convulsed and trembled. Chung Myung’s sword was slowly but surely piercing through the man's neck.
“Kuh......”
He had strained so hard that all the blood vessels in his eyes had burst, leaving no trace of white visible in the sea of red.
Crimson tears mixed with the blood spilling down his face.
“Sa- Save me....”
His words were mangled beyond recognition as bloody foam bubbled up.
But Chung Myung understood perfectly. Looking at the Myriad Man Manor martial artist’s desperate eyes, Chung Myung revealed his teeth in a smile.
"Not even funny."
Paaaat!
In an instant, Chung Myung’s sword whipped back with terrifying speed. At the same time, both hands that were desperately holding onto the sword were cut in an instant and flung into the air.
“N- No....”
Paaaaaat!
What the man saw next was Chung Myung’s sword falling toward his head with terrifying velocity.
Kwaaang!
The moment the blade collided with the man’s skull, a deafening explosion erupted. This wasn’t a cut but a devastating blow.
The man's head exploded upon impact with the sword's surface sending fragments of skull scattering like fireworks.
Thud.
The headless body collapsed like a rotting bundle of straw.
A brief silence descended. An indescribable cold air froze the hearts of all who bore witness.
Step.
Chung Myung nonchalantly let his sword hang at his side and resumed walking.
“Uh...”
It wasn’t the blood-soaked figure that terrified them.
"Ugh...."
It wasn’t the sword greased with blood or the sticky blood dripping from its edge, nor the warm metallic scent rising from a blood-soaked body.
“Eu-Euuh...”
It was those eyes. Those cold and unflinching eyes that remained entirely composed even after cutting down so many were unbearable.
"Eu... E- Euaaahhhhh!"
“Aaaaargh!”
The moment someone screamed loudly, several in the front turned around and began fleeing while screaming in terror.
"Wh- What are you doing! Your position...!"
“Out of my way! Get out of the way, you bastard! Aaaah!”
Those who had lost their minds to fear swung their blades at those trying to stop them. Chaos ensued as those fleeing and those trying to maintain order collided in a frenzy of confusion and despair.
They were no longer Myriad Man Manor martial artists or outlaws of Evil Sects, but merely frail beasts struggling to escape from the bloodthirsty beast before them.
A short laugh escaped Chung Myung's mouth at the chaos.
"More than I expected..."
He kicked the ground and thrust his blade into the backs of those trying to flee.
"Kinda bland, huh? Hm?"
Again, Chung Myung was drenched in blood. Even his pure white teeth began to stain red.
