Return of The Mount Hua – Chapter 218. Did you say Mount Hua? (3)

"You punk! Where do you steal things? Put that out right now!"

"No! Someone gave it to me earlier! I didn't steal it!"

"How dare you lie to me! In this land of Kunming, who is going to hand out their own food to others! Aren't you going to let go of that hand right now?"

The merchant who was beating the child snorted his nose.

"Oh, you don't want to give it to me, do you? Let's see if you don't let go of your hand even if your wrist is cut off!"

Then he finally pulled out a large sword on his waist. It was the moment when he held the child's hand and raised his sword high. (Originally was
식도를)

"What are you doing!"

Yoon Jong, who came running after hearing the child's scream, shouted. And clasped the hand of a merchant that held the sword high.

"What is this...!"

Angry at the unexpected interruption, the merchant quickly shut his mouth to the force that grabbed his hands. In an instant, his tone softened.

"Ah, no, it's not that I'm harassing him for no reason, this guy stole the dumplings..."

"What did he steal? I bought it here a while ago and handed it out!"

"……Yo- You give it to him?"

Yoon Jong's eyes became fierce.

"You didn't even know what was going on, and you hit the kid! What kind of person would that be?!"

"Aigoo, I'm sorry, sir! You must be an outsider.…. Kunming doesn't have anyone handing out food to others anymore, so I thought they must have stolen it."

Yoon Jong's face hardens.

"But no matter what. Trying to cut off a child's hand for stealing something. How can a person do that!"

"I- I was just trying to scare him! Really!"

Yoon Jong, who had been staring at the merchant for a long time, finally let go of his wrist when he heard the merchant insist.

And asked in a serious tone.

"Isn't this place so generous?"

The merchant touched his wrist in tears and then looked at Yoon Jong.

"Ho- How can I give food to others? I don't even have anything to put in my mouth."

"Hmm."

"Everyone is starving to death. You saw it on the way here."

Yoon Jong sighs.

"I understand the situation, but it's wrong to mess with the child carelessly!"

"I’m- I'm sorry."

With a stern scolding, he turned his gaze away from the merchant and lifted the fallen child.

"Are you all right?"

"...I, I'm fine..."

His lips are cracked and chapped, but the child doesn't think about taking care of the injury and just stares at his own hands.

Tears filled the eyes of the child who was watching the dumpling, which had been crushed by the trampled and covered in dirt.

"I have to get it for my brother...…."

Yoon Jong smiled pitifully and tapped the child on the shoulder.

"Don't worry. I'll buy you a new dumpling."

"R- Really?"

"Sure."

Jo-Gol nodded unconsciously at the sight.

'You're definitely a Taoist.''

Even in this situation, it is hard to believe that he taking care of person in need first.

Jo-Gol was ashamed of himself for not taking care of people in need around him because he was only concentrated on Jamokcha.

'I should take an example one or two from you….' (The raw is
대사형을 본받아 나도)

"Gol-ah."

Jo-Gol replied quickly.

"Yes, Sahyung!"

"Money."

"……Yes?"

Yoon Jong turns his head.

He tilted his head slightly crookedly and looked at Jo-Gol with clear and innocent eyes.

"I've spent all my money."

"……."

"Open your pockets."

"……."

"Hurry up."

Sahyung.

Why is that compassion not shown to your brother disciple?

Why...

It's been robbed.

Not only the money in his pocket but also the money he had on his sleeve and even the last emergency money he had put in his socks were all taken away.

‘Chung Myung only learns strange things from him!’

How can a person be wiped clean so that not a single particle of dust is left behind?

"……Sahyung.  What do we eat when we go home if we took it out all away?"

"……that's true, but we also have a place to spend money……."

"……that's the case, but we have somewhere to spend our money……."

"Where? Is there a place to spend money in Yunnan?"

There isn't.

No, it wasn't.

That’s right. They have never seen a proper city while they were on the way to Kunming from Sichuan. All they saw were desolate fields and mountainous areas.

"When you go back to Sichuan, you can go home and spend money. What's wrong with being the son of a rich family?"

"Sti- Still……."

Yoon Jong's head slowly turns towards Jo-Gol.

"Still?"

"……no."

Jo-Gol quietly closed his mouth when he saw Chung Myung's craziness in Yoon-Jeong's eyes.

'No, what kind of eyes...….'

If he open his mouth incorrectly, he will become porridge. (the raw is
죽빵이 날아올 같다)

'Everyone's been weird.'

Where did the benevolent Yoon Jong go?

Jo-Gol who was engulfed in sorrow, sighed deeply.

Meanwhile, Yoon Jong was buying grain and dumplings with the money he had stolen from Jo-Gol and giving them to the children.

No matter how many times he distributed it, the number of children did not decrease.

"One- One more, please."

"Here it is."

"Can I eat this? Can I really eat it?"

"Eat a lot. If you're hungry, come out tomorrow. I'll give it to you tomorrow."

"……thank you. Thank you very much."

Yoon Jong bites his lips a little.

He can see thin ribs between the rag-like clothes. As soon as the child grabbed the dumpling, they hurriedly pushed it into the mouth and started giggling.

"What are you doing! Go and get some water!"

"Yes!"

Jo-Gol ran to the well without a word.

Even when Chung Myung did not recognize his Sahyung, or when he overturned Mount Hua, Yoon Jong would sigh, but he did not get angry.

When he got so angry, it felt completely different from when Chung Myung got angry.

'For now, as if the mouse is dead, let's do what been told!' (The raw is
일단 죽은 )

Jo-Gol's survival instinct whispered so.

Jo-Gol, who got water from the well, distributed it to the children.

They bought dumplings and grains that they couldn't even hold with both hands, but it ran out in no time. Yoon Jong let out a sigh as he looked at the bottom of the empty sack.

"Oh...."

The children's eyes suddenly lose their vitality when they realize that the grain sacks are all empty

Yoon Jong bit his lips gently.

Usually, children are short-minded.

To be exact, when something happens, they don't think about why.

If they don’t get what other children received, they would get angry and throw tantrums. Not looking into Yoon Jong's situation.

But these kids just cry like they're used to this and don't get mad at Yoon Jong.

That made Yoon Jong unbearable.

He turned his head around and said to Jo-Gol.

"Buy more."

"Sahyung. Didn't you take all the money out? ? I don't have any money now."

"Have you hidden anything?"

"You've taken out all the emergency money I have! Now, even if I about die and try to eat, I don't have any more." (The raw is
이제는 진짜 먹고 죽으려고 해도 없습니다)

"……Really?"

Yoon Jong looked around the children with his face distorted.

The crying children bit their lips tightly and bowed their heads.

"Thank you."

"It's okay. We're not hungry."

There is blood vein on Yoon Jong's forehead.

He grabbed the belt and pulled out the sword from his waist. When the children saw it, they crouched in an instant as if they were frightened by the sight.

But Yoon Jong held out the sword to Jo-Gol without saying a word.

"Go, sell this and buy some grain."."

Jo-Gol's face hardened.

"Sahyung, this is Plum Sword!"

"I have eyes too."

"Sahyung! If you sell a disciple’s sword arbitrarily, you can't avoid punishment! Why are you doing this?"

"Did you say punishment?"

"Yes."

"You mean Sect Leader will be angry that I sold the sword and fed the children?"

"……Huh?"

That's not it.

He's not that kind of person.

Why didn't you sell the sword? He'd be mad at Jo-Gol.

"Needless to say. I am a Taoist before a martial artist. I can't watch children starve to protect a sword that fights people. Hurry up, sell this and get some grain."

"Sa- Sahyung, but……."

Despite his stubborn words, Jo-Gol hesitated as if he could not follow this, and a loud voice erupted from Yoon Jong's mouth.

"Hurry!"

Then, a savior appeared to the helpless Jo-Gol.

"What happened?"

"Sa- Sasuk!

Jo-Gol and Yoon Jong, who were found by Baek Chun, bowed their heads deeply.

Baek Chun frowned as he watched the gathered children with a sack of grain in Yoon Jong's hand.

"I think I need to hear what's going on first."

Yoon Jong swallowed dry saliva and calmly opened his mouth.

After a while.

Baek Chun, who had heard all the explanations, frowned and sighed.

"Yoon Jong."

"Yes, Sasuk."

Yoon Jong bows his head.

"I know how you feel, but even if you drop a few drops of water on a rice field dried up by drought, nothing will change. You understand?"

"...Yes. I know, Sasuk."

Baek Chun sighed when he saw Yoon Jong's eyes responding calmly.

"You understand, but you don't want to change your mind."

"I'm sorry."

Yoon Jong also understands what he is doing.

There is a time and place to give with a good heart.

Their purpose is to ask around for information about Jamokcha in Kunming without being noticed.

But if they distribute grain and work like this, people's eyes naturally gather. Even if Baek Chun gets angry at Yoon Jong, he can’t make an excuse.

Baek Chun nodded.

"Right, then hurry up."

"Yes?"

Baek Chun took out his money bag from his arms and threw it at at Jo-Gol.

Jo-Gol, who had taken the bag in a haphazard manner, blinked his eyes.

"Sasuk?"

"There won't be much grain in Kunming's commercial district. Buy everything you can buy."

"Will it be all right?"

"The mission is, of course, important."

Baek Chun said firmly.

"However, if I say that I turned a blind eye to the people in order to accomplish my mission successfully, would Sect Leader and Elders say that I did a good job?"

He paused for a moment and shook his head.

"It's wrong. I wish for the glory of Mount Hua. But the glory of Mount Hua is meaningless without justice. What's the point of Mount Hua standing on top of other sects if we put down justice?"

Jo-Gol nods his head.

"Of course, I do not mean that you should follow justice regardless of the situation. However, it doesn't seem like there will be any problems right now. So, hurry up."

"Yes?"

The words don't add up.

He doesn't think there's any problem, but to hurry?

As Jo-Gol wondered, Baek Chun glanced around with slightly uncomfortable eyes. And whispered quietly.

"Before Chung Myung finds out, hurry up!"

Jo-Gol rushed to buy the grain.

The remaining Baek Chun and Yoon Jong nervously checked to see whether Chung Myung was coming from afar.

"Here it is!"

"Here it is."

"There's still a lot left, so don't rush!"

With a large grain sack in the center, Yoon Jong, Jo-Gol, and Baek Chun distributed the grain together. It was obviously distributed only to the children who had gathered, but how the rumor spread, other children also flocked in like a cloud.

"Have there been so many children?"

"Kunming is a big city. They're all starving and can't go out there."

"I don't think we have enough grain……."

Baek Chun let out a low sigh.

"You have to do as much as you can."

Baek Chun bit his lips a little while watching the crowd of children.

Although he was not a person who usually prides himself on being merciful, he can't stand the children's scruffy bones.

From his point of view as the leader of the group,  he should blame Yoon Jong for unexpectedly attracting attention. But honestly, he is grateful to Yoon Jong for doing what he couldn't do first.

"Let's get this over with!"

"Yes, Sasuk!"

Yoon Jong hands out dumplings and pats the child's head.

"Eat a lot."

"Tha- Thank you."

Their eyes are a little frightened. Even though they are handing out food and grain, they do not loose their guard against strangers.

It must mean that they suffered that much.

“Do you think more and more are coming?”

"Now, even adults are coming. Ummm..."

Baek Chun narrowed his forehead slightly. If this is the case, it will really draw attention.

'I'd rather leave the grain here... … .'

No way.

Then there will be a few accidents. It could turn into a disaster. They will die and kill each other to have even one more.

Then...

It was then.

"Who are these guys!"

The heads of the three people who were distributing grain flashed up.

"……."

Baek Chun's face hardened.

A white robe that half covered the top. The skin of an animal draped over it.

'Namman Yasugung……'

Before he knew it, Namman Yasugung Clan was walking toward the disciples of Mount Hua.

  1. ‘Chung Myung only learns strange things from him!’
It’s just my thought but by following the flow of the story, I think this sentence was meant : ‘He only learns strange things from Chung Myung’. It would make more sense to me though.
And thank you a lot for your works, I love your translation!:3
  2. Anyway, I really think this will be a little bit difficult, as always. When this part of the story starts, huge things will happen. Phew. It's not easy to save a city. Goodluck to us! Thanks for the chapter! ( ꈍᴗꈍ)
